Swimming success

CBS Thurles had five students who participated in the highly competitive Munster Schools Swimming Gala last Sunday in the UL arena.

Swimmers

Each of the boys competed in the four individual events;100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Breaststoke and 100m Butterfly. In the age group 16-18 James Symons recorded a Personal Best of 58secs for the 100m Freestyle.

This saw him into the final to which he narrowly missed out on the bronze medal. Cillian O' Gorman and Dean Cooke competed in the 100m Backstroke, Freestyle and Breaststroke and recorded Personal Bests which also took them into the finals of those events. Darren O' Sullivan swam in the 100m Freestyle and Butterfly and earned his place in the 100m Butterfly final. Our youngest competitor Dawid Mawe recorded a Personal Best for his 100m Backstroke and also made the final.

All swimmers who are part of the local Kingfisher swimming club performed brilliantly on the day and their new Personal Bests will see them qualify for the National Division Age Groups Competition next summer.

We wish them the very best of luck
