Guest Speaker

On Tuesday last Mr. Finbarr Walsh, father of Donal, visited the school and delivered an inspirational and thought-provoking talk to fifth and sixth year pupils. Mr. Walsh spoke very emotionally about Donal’s long battle with cancer and the very important message that Donal wanted to share with other teenagers. That simple but important message was to ask for help when times are difficult. Mr. Walsh also spoke about the Donal Walsh Livelife Foundation which has been set up to promote Donal’s message about creating age appropriate teenage facilities in hospitals and hospice care centres and to spread Donal’s anti-suicide message. Although Donal’s death was obviously very tragic it is inspiring and uplifting to hear the positive message that he believed in and to see the huge successes that his foundation has already achieved.
