Art Trip

Last Friday our fifth and sixth year art classes travelled to Dublin on their annual art trip. In the morning they visited the Lucian Freud exhibition at The Irish Museum of Modern Art; this is a collection of fifty of his works including portraits, self-portraits and works of still life. In the afternoon the students visited the National Gallery where they studied the exhibition on bog bodies and viewed artefacts from the bronze and iron ages.

L.C.V.P. As part of its investigations into local enterprises, the sixth year L.C.V.P. class paid a visit to Boru Stoves on Wednesday last. There, they viewed the different stages of production and assembly, were made familiar with the rigorous quality control protocol and learnt about the company’s investment in research and development. They also learnt about the development of new products which satisfy modern consumer demands. The school would like to thank Mr. Dan Tynan for giving them such an interesting tour of the facility and for the insightful question and answer session which followed.

Concern Debating Our Concern debating team suffered a disappointing defeat, by a split decision, in their debate against the Ursuline Convent on Thursday evening last . The motion, which the C.B.S. team was opposing was that ‘ The UN should be disbanded’. The team was captained by Harry Hogan and also consisted of Kyle English, Brendan Atkins and Mark Fortune. This leaves the team with ten points and a chance of progressing to the knockout stages.
