Young Social InnovatorsTwo groups from Thurles C.B.S. showcased their work on social issues at the national final of the Young Social Innovators which was held in Dublin last Wednesday.
The first group (Rat Pack) came up with a rapid response pack that could help to keep members of the farming community safe from Weil’s Disease. Their work was highly praised and they were presented with Certificates which acknowledged their hard work by the Health and Safety Authority.
The second group to present were called WISE. This stands for Water Ireland Safety Education. This group scooped the award for most innovative use of mobile technology for their alarmed lifebuoys. By alarming the lifebuoy the group hope to reduce the number of acts of vandalism which leave people’s lives at risk when lifebuoys are damaged . Vodafone Ireland sponsor this award and the judges believed that this innovative action has huge potential to save lives.
Both groups deserve great credit for their hard work and innovative response to two social issues that affect many Irish people each year.
