News (12th February)

Following on from their recent All-Ireland Cup success, our under-16 basketball squad will be heading back to the Tallaght Arena after the midterm break to compete in their second All-Ireland final of the season, this time in the league. This opportunity to complete a historic double was brought about by a comfortable victory over Presentation Secondary School, Miltown, Killarney in the league semi-final on Monday last. Once more a strong team performance saw them overcome their opponents. The final score was 44 points to 33 with Sean Mockler, Jack Hehir, Liam Kenny and Arthur Geronimo all making considerable contributions to the scoreboard. Their opponents in the final will be Colaiste Dun Iascaigh of Cahir. We wish the C.B.S. the very best of luck.

Training Module in L.I.T.

Last Thursday nineteen of our under-15 hurlers attended a training module at the sports laboratory in L.I.T. Tipperary. The students engaged in both fitness and injury prevention testing. Transition Year Work Experience Our Transition Year students are currently completing the second week of their work experience. Work experience is an integral part of the Transition Year programme as the students are afforded the opportunity to learn new skills while also gaining an insight into possible career choices for their futures. The school would like to thank all the businesses and organisations who helped to facilitate this element of the Transition Year course by offering our students their work placements.

Our third year and sixth year students are currently sitting their ‘mock’ examinations. These exams provide the pupils with an important insight into the layout, structure and timing of the exams and are thus an excellent preparation for the state exams in June. We wish them all the very best of luck.

Fifth Year Options

On Monday evening last, the school hosted an information evening for the parents of students who will be entering fifth year this September. The talk focused on subject choice options and it was very well attended.
